About Everlastea
Why loose leaf tea?
Loose leaf tea uses whole leaves instead of the fine dust found in many tea bags. The leaves have room to unfurl in the water, which gives a truer flavor, and the slower process of measuring and steeping turns a quick drink into a small ritual.
What is the difference between organic and non-organic loose leaf tea?
Organic tea is grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and is certified by an independent body. Non-organic tea may be grown with conventional farming inputs. Both can be high quality, so the difference is mostly about how the leaves were grown and what the farming leaves behind. All of our tea are USDA certified organic.
Which tea should I try first?
Take our Find Your Tea quiz for a match based on your taste. If you’d rather taste around, the Tea Discovery Kit is a 9-tea sampler with one small pouch of each blend.
What are your natural flavors?
Our natural flavors are carefully crafted blends that give each tea its distinctive taste. While our exact formulation are proprietary, we take pride in using ingredients that meet organic standards and in creating flavors that complement the quality of our teas.
Brewing
How do I prepare loose leaf tea?
Start with fresh, filtered water. Measure your leaves into an infuser, mug or teapot, pour the hot water over them, and let them steep for the time below. Lift out the leaves when the time is up so the tea doesn’t turn bitter.
What water temperature and steep time should I use?
As a general guide:
- Black tea: just off the boil (295°F), 3–5 minutes
- Green tea: about 160°F, 2–3 minutes
- Herbal tea: fully boiling (212°F), 5–10 minutes
Each blend is different, so follow the steeping directions on your pouch if they differ from the above.
Can I steep the same leaves more than once?
Often, yes. Whole leaves hold a lot of flavor, so many teas give a second cup, and some a third. Use the same water temperature and add about a minute to the steep time each round.
Freshness & packaging
How do you keep the blend so fresh?
Our pouches use high-barrier packaging that keeps out air, moisture and light, and we flush them with nitrogen before sealing so there’s almost no oxygen left inside to dull the leaves.
What is the loose leaf tea foil made from?
The inside lining of our pouches looks and performs like traditional metallic foil, but it’s made entirely from renewable agricultural resources rather than fossil fuels and raw metals.
How should I store my tea?
Keep the pouch sealed, away from heat, sunlight and moisture, and don’t store it near strong-smelling foods. Moisture is the biggest enemy of dry tea.
The Everlastea Mug
What is the Everlastea Mug?
It’s a complete ceramic brewing system in one piece: a matte black mug with a matching lid and an inner cup, so you can steep, sip and rest your tea without a separate infuser or saucer.
How do I care for the mug?
Hand wash recommended for longevity. Safe to use in Microwave and Dishwasher.
